MOV and MP3 formats

MOV files format is the common multimedia format that often used for saving movies and other video files; uses a proprietary compression algorithm developed by Apple Computer; compatible with both Macintosh and Windows platforms.

The format specifies a multimedia container file that contains one or more tracks, each of which stores a particular type of data: audio, video, effects, or text (e.g. for subtitles).

Each track either contains a digitally-encoded media stream (using a specific format) or a data reference to the media stream located in another file. Tracks are maintained in a hierarchical data structure consisting of objects called atoms. An atom can be a parent to other atoms or it can contain media or edit data, but it cannot do both.

Because both the MOV and MP4 container formats can use the same MPEG-4 formats, they are mostly interchangeable in a QuickTime-only environment.

So many people ask how to convert MOV to MP3 Mac, I just do it with audio converter for mac and now, I want to share more about MOV and MP3.

MP3
MP3 is an audio-specific format that was designed by the Moving Picture Experts Group (MPEG) as part of its MPEG-1 standard and later extended in MPEG-2 standard.

MP3 files are similar to WAV files but are compressed to 1/10th the size yet maintain high sound quality. A typical 3 minute song file is about 3.5MB, can be downloaded in less than 10 minutes over a 56K modem connection. Even if you don't understand what a Megabyte is, understand that 1/10th the size:

The fact is, if you want to play mov video on mp3 player, you will need to convert mov to mp3, then import the extracted mp3 audio from mov files to mp3 player. Both are the most popular formats, one is for audio, another is for video.
