What is iTunes?

iTunes is a media player and media library application developed by Apple Inc. It is used to play, download, and organize digital audio and video on personal computers running the OS X operating system and the iOS-based iPod, iPhone, and iPad devices, with editions also released for Microsoft Windows.

iTunes 11 is the most recent version of iTunes, available for Mac OS X v10.6.8 or later, as well as Windows XP or later. It was released on November 29, 2012, one month later than expected, because of a delay by Apple, which said that it needed extra time to get things right.

The iTunes player keeps all your music, movies, and TV shows all in one place. Instead of going through stacks and stacks of CDs, you can import them into iTunes and quickly browse your whole collection. Organize it any way you want. Move it onto any of your devices. Play it whenever — and wherever — the mood strikes. Even have Genius make mixes of songs that go great together.

The redesigned iTunes layout stresses simplicity. It's classic Cupertino; crisp, clean, and timeless. A simple media player/search panel sits above a toolbar offering ultra quick access to everything you need: Library, Songs, Albums, Artists, Genres, Playlists, Radio, Match, and iTunes Store. If you're upgrading iTunes, you can go straight from the installer to the iTunes store. Since our setup was new, we pressed Scan for Music. The app quickly displayed all our tunes in the Music Library View, sorted by Song, Album, Genre, and so on.

As before, playback quality is top-notch. Current iTunes users have probably already upgraded to iTunes 11. But those of you out there who either haven't used iTunes before or gave up on previous versions, try the all-new Apple iTunes 11. It addresses many of the issues that drove users toward media players with smaller footprints. It's lighter and faster than any iTunes you've seen before, yet it does more than ever.

Some familiar yet missing features (like the sidebar) are still available as options, too; only now you have a choice. We didn't try the Match service, but it seems like cheap insurance for large libraries, and it includes instant access anywhere with all your devices. If you're looking for a single app to handle your music and media libraries, your digital downloads, and your devices, we suggest taking a bite of the all-new Apple iTunes.

Through the iTunes Store, users can purchase and download music, music videos, television shows, iPod games, audio books, podcasts, movies and movie rentals in some countries, and ringtones, available on the iPhone and iPod Touch (fourth generation onward). Application software for the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch can be downloaded from the App Store. iTunes has been criticized for not being able to transfer music from one portable device to another.

gotoAndPlay is dedicated to providing resources for Flash game developers. It’s a community that has a forum, interviews from professional developers, and reviews of books and resources. It also has tutorials and articles about Flash game development that can be filtered by topic, expertise, and type.

Some people learn best by visualization and following along with the instructor step-by-step in real-time. If you’re the type that prefers to learn by watching instructional videos, check out gotoandlearn.com – a website by Lee Brimelow that offers free Flash video tutorials.

Flash Perfection is a website with a large collection of Flash tutorials, tips, and tricks from various websites. Flash Perfection has 23 categories to help you find information more quickly.

Flash and Math has a great collection of tutorials on AS3. They cover basic to advanced topics so that Flash developers of any level can find something they can read and learn from. Many of the tutorials include the source files for download.

ActionScript.org is a site that provides resources and information pertaining to Flash, Flex, and ActionScript. They have a fairly active Forums section as well as an ActionScript Library that currently has over 700 objects you can download.
